What this is

Bodies Helping Bodies is a four-full-day, in-person, small-group training immersion in skillful human-to-human helping: talk, touch, movement, listening, communication, breath, presence, leverage, experimentation, prayer, play & embodied relationship.

It comes out of 16+ years of bodywork practice but it isn't only for bodyworkers.

This person. This body. This moment.

A sequence tells us at start where to put our hand next, but what about what the person & body in front of you is asking for.

So this training is technique & intuition, it's learning the relationship between the two.

Learn the pattern. Meet the person.
Inside the four days

Four full days of doing, of giving and receiving of being led and leading

Roughly 9am to 6pm each day spending time giving, receiving, practicing, repeating, communicating, experimenting, being coached & encountering different bodies not sitting through lectures.

  • Learn practice & memorize a traditional Thai massage sequence a real structure you can begin from & fall back on
  • Rotate partners, so you meet many bodies, not just one
  • Talk, touch, listening movement, breath, leverage, resistance, loading & unloading
  • Communication as part of the method how to ask, listen, clarify, pivot, propose, check-in, & create context for communication to connect.
  • Demonstrations, coaching, experimentation & improvisation

We're massaging a person, not a sequence.

The honest version: four full immersion days can be enough to begin practicing and to get your body and your hands in the momentum of the moment & to genuinely change what you notice, what you can do & how you keep learning afterward too.

Who it's for

Two main doors in

The professional door

Current massage therapists, bodyworkers, movement teachers, trainers, coaches, aspiring practitioners anyone whose work involves bodies, care, or human relationship and those who want to start in such services or to add a tool to their belt

The simply-human door

Partners, friends, family anyone who wants to get better at helping, touching, listening to & caring for the people they love.

Some people come to start a profession. Some come to expand one. Some will never charge anyone for this work professionally but will change the way they are with their beloved close friends and family. All three are legitimate.

A note on physical capacity: this is an embodied, floor-based, participatory training. Participants want enough baseline capacity for hands-on floor practice across four full days - but nobody needs to be young, athletic, extremely flexible, extremely strong, or completely pain-free. Adaptation is part of the practice.
The teacher

Joey Lundgreen

Joey came to this work unusually. After a heart surgery in his early 20s, he walked into a three-hour introductory Thai massage class & had the immediate experience: "Oh. This is real. I'm actually doing something useful."

With little money for formal training, he spent the next year & a half learning through service, curiosity & honest experimentation. Sixteen years & thousands of hours of hands-on work later, he has trained roughly 150 people as practitioners & simply-humans alike.

"He's your body's friend."

"I spent five years as a preschool teacher and have been a dancer since I was five... my work has always come back to the body: how we move, feel, process, and connect. Now I'm following that thread into psychosomatics and bodywork, something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Along the way I've been learning from someone who's become a very good & trusted friend and teacher, Joey Lundgreen."
